Tentative Course Schedule
CLASS 1st 4 hour:
SSIS lab Demo
Lab1: Introduction of the data flow and development environment.
Lab2: Introduction of the control flow and three types of containers in control flow.
Lab3: Introduction of common tools in data flow.
Lab4: Introduction of variables, parameters, and expressions with a demo of dynamically loading data files.
CLASS 2nd 4 hour:
SSIS lab Demo
Lab5: Loading Dimension tables using SCD and merge command in SQL. Introduction of data warehousing and different types of slowly change dimensions.
Lab6: Loading Fact tables using Dimension Lookup.
Lab7: Loading marketing mailing list by using Conditional Splits, Lookup transformations, Union all and Row Count auditing mechanism.
Lab8: Decoding error detailed information by using script components and new functions in SSIS 2016.
CLASS 3rd 4 hour:
SSIS Expressions and Design Pattern
We will first introduce basic functions used in SSIS expressions, then give tips and tricks of common used SSIS expressions in ETL to make ETL package more dynamic.
Lab 9: Loading currency tables with deduping
Lab 10: Extracting data and generating output files with headers and footers
Lab 11: Importing files with data cleansing by removing error rows using script tasks
Lab 12: Design Pattern: Loading staging tables.
CLASS 4th 4 hour:
Lab 13: Design Pattern: Loading from staging tables to Data warehouse.
Lab 14: Design Pattern: Introduction of Package Part in SSIS 2016 to encourage reusability.
Lab 15: Design Pattern: Parent child design pattern to dynamically control loading orders and tables.
